The WDX10G5R.4 is for a system that has the enclosure depth and amplifier power for a serious 10. DB Drive rates it at 1500 watts nominal and 3000 watts dynamic, with a 3-inch four-layer high-temperature voice coil, die-cast vented aluminum basket, non-pressed paper cone, and reinforced suspension. This is not the 10 we pick because space is tight. It is the 10 we pick when you want more output without moving up to a 12- or 15-inch subwoofer.

The dual 4-ohm voice coils matter when we are matching the amplifier. A single WDX10G5R.4 can be wired to a 2-ohm or 8-ohm final load, so it makes sense with an amplifier designed to make the power you need at 2 ohms. If you are trying to run one subwoofer at 1 ohm, this is the wrong coil configuration. That is something we would decide before choosing the amplifier and building the enclosure.

It is also a physically substantial 10-inch subwoofer. Mounting depth is 7.52 inches, the cutout is 9.47 inches, overall diameter is 10.98 inches, and DB Drive publishes 0.17 ft³ of woofer displacement. In other words, this is not a shallow-mount replacement and it is not a woofer we would try to squeeze into an undersized enclosure just because it says 10-inch on the box. Give it the space, enclosure, and amplifier it needs, and you get a lot of motor and suspension in a 10-inch package.

What it will not do: this is not the right answer when mounting depth is limited, when the enclosure has to be extremely small, or when the amplifier needs a 1-ohm load from a single subwoofer.

Manufacturer Construction

3.0-inch four-layer anodized-aluminum high-temperature voice coil

Non-pressed paper cone

Double-stitched reinforced foam surround

Dual poly-cotton dampeners

High-excursion motor with Y35 ferrite magnets

Die-cast aluminum vented basket

Rubber gasket trim ring

Large-gauge compression terminals

Protective magnet cover

Manufacturer Specifications

Dynamic power handling: 3000 watts

Nominal power handling: 1500 watts

Impedance: dual 4-ohm voice coils

DC voice-coil resistance (Re): 2 × 3.2 ohms

Resonant frequency (Fs): 31.398 Hz

Mechanical quality factor (Qms): 3.102

Electrical quality factor (Qes): 0.498

Total quality factor (Qts): 0.429

Equivalent air volume (Vas): 13.084 L

Mechanical compliance (Cms): 72.569 mm/N

Moving mass (Mms): 354.060 g

Force factor (BL): 29.960

Sensitivity: 81 dB

Overall diameter: 10.98 inches

Cutout diameter: 9.47 inches

Mounting depth: 7.52 inches

Woofer displacement: 0.17 ft³

Final Inventory

Remaining SMS Car Audio inventory. This item is new/unused unless otherwise stated on the listing.
