ARC Audio Speaker Installation & DSP Tuning
ARC Audio Speaker Installation & DSP Tuning
ARC Audio speakers only perform as well as the installation and tuning behind them. A good speaker in a weak door, poor adapter, bad location, or untuned system can sound average. The install is what lets ARC X2, AS, and RS speakers do their job.
SMS Car Audio installs ARC speaker systems with the full build in mind: fitment, mounting, amplifier power, DSP control, factory signal, door treatment, crossover setup, and tuning.
Why installation matters
Speakers do not work in a perfect lab once they are inside a vehicle. Door panels flex, factory locations are not always ideal, factory radios can change the signal, and weak mounting can kill midbass. A better speaker needs a better foundation.
That is why SMS Car Audio looks at the whole vehicle before recommending ARC X2, AS, or RS. The right product matters, but so does the way it is installed.
ARC Speaker Install Checklist
| Install Area | Why It Matters | SMS Focus |
|---|---|---|
| Speaker fitment | Depth, basket size, grille clearance, and adapters decide what fits. | Verify fit before selling the wrong speaker. |
| Mounting and baffles | A weak mount loses midbass and creates rattles. | Use solid adapters, sealing, and serviceable mounting. |
| Door treatment | Doors are usually the speaker enclosure in a car. | Reduce flex, leaks, buzzes, and panel noise where needed. |
| Amplifier matching | Speakers need the right power and protection. | Match amp channels, impedance, crossovers, and gains. |
| DSP tuning | Crossovers, time alignment, EQ, and levels make the system blend. | Tune around the actual vehicle, not generic settings. |
DSP tuning for ARC speakers
DSP tuning helps ARC speakers sound cleaner and more balanced by controlling crossovers, time alignment, equalization, output levels, and subwoofer blending. This matters even more with AS and RS systems, active front stages, and builds using ARC Falcon or Blackbird.

DSP amplifiers such as ARC Blackbird and Falcon give us the control needed to tune speaker systems properly. That control can turn a good speaker upgrade into a real front-stage system.
Which ARC speakers need the most tuning?
- X2: benefits from clean mounting, correct fitment, and good amplifier setup.
- AS: benefits from stronger installation, amplifier power, and DSP when the build supports it.
- RS: should usually be planned with DSP, amplifier channels, and real tuning time.
Active vs passive planning
Some ARC systems are best kept passive for simplicity. Others should be active so each driver gets its own amplifier channel and DSP crossover. SMS Car Audio helps decide which route fits the vehicle, speaker line, budget, and sound goal.

Build it once, build it right
A good ARC speaker system is not just a product choice. It is a plan. The speaker, amplifier, DSP, mounting, wiring, and tuning should all work together.
