1. Review the Vehicle and the Goal
The first step is understanding what the vehicle already has and what the customer wants to change. Similar product lists may require very different installation paths in a daily driver, premium factory-audio vehicle, Jeep, truck, motorcycle, SXS, Slingshot, or boat.
- Vehicle year, make, model, trim, and factory audio package.
- Current radio, amplifier, speakers, subwoofers, DSP, lighting, battery, and previous wiring.
- Desired result: cleaner sound, more bass, stronger output, better staging, factory-feature retention, lighting, or custom fabrication.
- Budget range, daily use, timeline, and possible future upgrades.
2. Inspect Fitment, Signal, and System Requirements
Before products are ordered, SMS checks what the vehicle requires for signal integration, mounting, wiring, electrical support, enclosure space, retained features, and tuning.
- Factory signal, factory amplifier behavior, load requirements, and interface options.
- Speaker depth, adapters, mounting surfaces, grille clearance, tweeter locations, and crossover needs.
- Amplifier channels, power, impedance, wire size, fusing, cooling, and mounting location.
- Subwoofer airspace, enclosure type, final impedance, cargo or seat clearance, and desired output.
- Camera, USB, chime, steering-wheel-control, and factory-screen retention.
- Battery condition, charging behavior, grounding, and expected electrical demand.
3. Build the Quote and Schedule
Once the requirements are known, the estimate can include the products, integration parts, wiring, labor, fabrication, electrical support, setup, and tuning required for the actual vehicle.
- The agreed scope is confirmed before the appointment.
- Special-order equipment and custom work may require a deposit or payment before ordering.
- The required appointment time depends on vehicle access, hidden conditions, fabrication, previous work, and tuning scope.
- Changes discovered after disassembly are discussed before additional work continues.
4. Install for Safety, Reliability, and Serviceability
A clean installation is more than hiding wires. The system needs a safe power path, secure mounting, protected cable, correct grounding, adequate cooling, reliable connections, and access for future service.
- Power wire and fuse protection sized and routed for the system.
- Ground points prepared for a stable, low-resistance return path.
- Signal, speaker, amplifier, DSP, and subwoofer wiring organized and protected.
- Speaker adapters sealed and secured with polarity and clearance verified.
- Amplifiers, processors, enclosures, and custom panels mounted for the vehicle’s use.
- Factory functions checked after integration work is complete.
5. Set Up and Tune the System
After installation, the system still needs to be configured. Gain structure, crossovers, polarity, phase, channel routing, EQ, time alignment, and subwoofer blending are adjusted according to the equipment and project scope.
DSP cannot correct a leaking speaker mount, weak electrical system, clipped source, wrong enclosure, or poor installation. Those problems are addressed before tuning is treated as the final step.

The finished vehicle is checked for sound, controls, retained features, source operation, camera function, subwoofer controls, DSP presets, noise, and basic customer operation.
