The outside shape may look large while the usable internal volume remains small after accounting for the sloped floor, transmission tunnel, seat brackets, subwoofer displacement, port, bracing, and required clearance. A design should be based on net internal volume, not only outside dimensions.

  • Seat frame and carpet can reduce available height.
  • The woofer needs mounting depth plus clearance behind the motor.
  • The cone or surround needs space to move without contacting the seat.
  • Storage trays and factory brackets may occupy usable volume.
