ARC Audio ARC8 D2 — 8-Inch Dual 2-Ohm Subwoofer
Small footprint does not have to mean “just enough bass to say there is a subwoofer.”
Working with a tight enclosure area but still want a real high-excursion subwoofer in the system?
That’s where the ARC8 D2 makes sense.
At SMS, the ARC8 is the size we look at when the vehicle will not give us the footprint for a 10 or 12, or when the build benefits from multiple smaller woofers. The D2 version gives us dual 2-ohm coils, so a single woofer can be wired to a 1-ohm or 4-ohm final load depending on the amplifier plan.
The enclosure still decides how the woofer behaves.
ARC publishes sealed and ported recommendations for the ARC8. That means we can choose the box alignment around space, output and sound-quality goals instead of treating the 8-inch size as one fixed kind of bass.
This is why we’d use it
It gives us a legitimate low-frequency driver when the install is constrained by space, while keeping enough wiring flexibility to match the subwoofer section to the amplifier correctly.
