Description

ARC Audio HD-Power 8-AWG Harley-Davidson Amplifier Power Harness

The amplifier cannot make clean power if the wiring feeding it is treated like an afterthought.

On a Harley, that problem gets worse fast. The battery is nowhere near the fairing, space for routing is tight, the harness lives around heat and vibration, and every extra loose terminal or homemade connection becomes another place for voltage drop, corrosion or a future service problem.

The ARC Audio HD-Power harness is built to solve that part of the install before it becomes the weak link. It is a preassembled 8-AWG power-and-ground package using stranded 100% oxygen-free copper, a molded high-current fuse holder, pre-terminated battery connections and factory-style loom with enough length for the battery-to-fairing run on compatible Harley amplifier installations.

Why ARC uses real OFC instead of CCA.

The conductor is 8-AWG stranded 100% oxygen-free copper—ARC specifically calls out no CCA.

That matters because the main power cable is responsible for getting current from the battery all the way to the amplifier without becoming the restriction. On a motorcycle, where the charging system and available installation space are already limited, saving money on a high-resistance conductor is the wrong place to compromise the system.

The customer does not buy OFC because copper sounds better by itself. The benefit is electrical: give the amplifier a proper low-resistance current path so the wiring is not the reason voltage at the amplifier falls behind when demand rises.

The fuse is already part of the harness—not something we figure out after routing the wire.

ARC integrates a molded high-current fuse holder into the harness and supplies a 60-amp fuse. The harness is intended for motorcycle amplifier applications up to 60 amps of continuous current draw.

That keeps the main power protection where it belongs in the system instead of relying on a random fuse holder from a universal kit. We still route and secure the harness correctly at the battery, but the major power-protection hardware is already matched to the purpose of the cable.

Battery connections are already terminated and insulated.

The HD-Power arrives with insulated battery ring terminals already installed. That removes another fabrication point from a cramped motorcycle install and gives us a clean connection at the factory battery.

On a car, there may be room to build and dress large cable ends on a bench and then work them into place. On a Harley, every inch around the battery and frame matters. A purpose-built terminated harness means less loose hardware, fewer improvised connections and a cleaner service path later.

The loom and length are designed around the actual Harley route.

ARC gives the harness enough length to run from the Harley battery forward to a fairing-mounted amplifier and ships the assembly pre-loomed.

That sounds simple until you compare it with building a universal amp kit on the bike. We do not have to estimate separate red and black cable lengths, sleeve them afterward, build the battery terminals, add a fuse holder and then try to make the finished run look like it belongs next to the factory harness.

The pre-loomed construction lets us route the power and ground as one planned installation assembly and secure it alongside the motorcycle’s existing wiring where appropriate.

What that solves: less fabrication around the main current path, cleaner routing and fewer small installation decisions that can become big reliability problems later.

This harness is sized for specific ARC motorcycle amplifiers.

ARC currently lists HD-Power for the MOTO 800, MOTO 720, MOTO 600.4 and KS125.2 BX2.

That compatibility list matters. An 8-AWG motorcycle harness should not be treated like a universal answer for every amplifier just because the cable physically reaches the battery. We still match the power wiring and fuse strategy to the actual amplifier and the current the system is expected to draw.

For the ARC amplifiers this harness was designed around, it gives us the battery-side foundation without piecing the main current path together from generic parts.

Why we would use HD-Power instead of building the same thing from a universal kit.

We can build amplifier power wiring from raw OFC cable, terminals, loom and a proper fuse holder. That does not mean doing so is automatically the better installation.

When ARC already offers a harness with the correct gauge, current capacity, battery terminals, fuse protection, loom and Harley-length routing for the amplifier being installed, using the purpose-built part removes variables without taking anything away from the system.

That is the practical value of HD-Power: not a fancy power wire, just the right power path already prepared for the job.

The result: the amplifier gets a properly fused 8-AWG OFC feed from the battery, the wiring stays cleaner and more serviceable, and the installer can spend time on the parts of the motorcycle system that actually need custom work instead of rebuilding a harness ARC already engineered for the application.
