RADIO / OEM FUNCTION FIT
Where this fits in the build
The source unit has to fit more than the dash opening. Steering-wheel controls, factory cameras, amplified audio, chimes, USB, vehicle settings and data integration can change the correct installation path.
Plan aroundConfirm dash fitment and the factory features that must remain.
Match itMatch the radio to phone, camera, audio and interface requirements.
Finish itUse the correct vehicle interface instead of sacrificing OEM functions unnecessarily.
Description
BOSS Elite BEHDIN98 — 1998-2013 Harley-Davidson Plug-and-Play Bluetooth Radio
The BEHDIN98 solves a different Harley problem than the big touchscreen radios. It is for 1998-2013 Electra Glide, Street Glide and Road Glide applications where the customer wants a direct-fit replacement with Bluetooth streaming and calling, USB and AUX connectivity, and retained factory handlebar audio controls without putting a modern CarPlay screen in the fairing.
That simplicity is the reason to buy it. The 3-inch monochrome display and traditional controls fit the character of an older touring bike, while the front panel is rated IPX6 and the chassis IPX4. BOSS also specifies conformal coating on the circuit board and UV protection on the front panel—details that matter more on a motorcycle than brochure-style screen size comparisons.
Fitment has real exclusions. BOSS says the factory harness/connectors are required to retain functionality, and the BEHDIN98 is not compatible with factory-amplified systems, intercom, CB, rear volume controls, 1998-2005 Ultra rear speakers, or factory-equipped satellite-radio systems. Those are system-design limits, not fine print to discover after the radio is sold.
