DB Drive P7CDT1.75 1.75-Inch Titanium Compression Driver — Single
Building a pro-audio horn section and need the vocals and top end to stay clear once the system gets loud? That is where the P7CDT1.75 fits. This is the compression driver that attaches to a compatible horn or waveguide and creates the high-efficiency output a normal dome tweeter is not designed to deliver in a loud door, stunt-wall, or other high-output system.
The 104 dB sensitivity is the number that matters here. DB Drive rates the driver at 150 watts nominal and 500 watts maximum, but because it is so efficient, the goal is not just throwing amplifier power at it. The amplifier, crossover, and horn all need to be matched so the driver stays clean in the range assigned to it. Its 8-ohm impedance also needs to be accounted for when choosing the amplifier channel and when multiple compression drivers share a channel.
The P7CDT1.75 uses a titanium diaphragm, 1.75-inch / 44 mm voice coil, and 22 oz. magnet. DB Drive lists its PBRH horn family as 1-3/8-inch / 35 mm, 18-TPI universal-fit horns and shows the compression drivers with the horns sold separately. That lets the horn size and dispersion be selected around the installation instead of treating the compression driver as a complete speaker by itself.
What it will not do: this is the compression driver only. A compatible horn or waveguide is required and sold separately. It is not a full-range speaker. High-pass filtering needs to be chosen around the horn, amplifier power, and complete system design.
