DB Drive P8TW2FPH WDX PRO 2-Inch Phenolic Compression Driver — Single
Building a horn-loaded vocal section and need more output through the vocal range than a small tweeter can give you? That is where the P8TW2FPH makes sense. DB Drive built this 2-inch phenolic compression driver around vocal-midrange through high-frequency reproduction, so it fits a pro-audio system where you want voices and instruments to project cleanly through a proper waveguide.
The phenolic diaphragm is the reason to look at this version instead of automatically choosing the titanium P8TW2FT. DB Drive describes the P8TW2FPH as being focused on the vocal midrange bandwidth with extended response into the highs. The 8-ohm load also gives us useful options when multiple compression drivers are being wired to a dedicated amplifier channel.
This is a 4-bolt driver for a 2-inch-throat waveguide. DB Drive lists it for use with compatible horns such as the P9TWLH, P9TWSH, PHT6 and PHT9, while the standard 4-bolt pattern gives us other compatible waveguide options as well. The aluminum resonance chamber and ferrite-oxide motor are part of the driver assembly; the horn itself is separate.
What it will not do: this is not a complete horn by itself and it is not a full-range speaker. A compatible 4-bolt, 2-inch-throat waveguide is required. Amplifier power and high-pass filtering need to be chosen around the complete horn/driver combination and the actual system design.
