Want real subwoofer bass but the vehicle does not give you room for a normal pair of 10s or 12s? That is where these 6.5-inch WDX subs make sense. This listing gives you two WDX6.5G2R.4 subwoofers, so we can build a compact enclosure around a pair of real high-excursion drivers instead of asking door speakers or small factory woofers to do a subwoofer's job.

DB Drive rates each sub at 750 watts nominal and 1500 watts dynamic. Each one uses a 2-inch anodized-aluminum high-temperature voice coil, non-pressed paper cone, double-stitched reinforced foam surround, dual poly-cotton dampeners, a high-excursion motor with Y35 ferrite magnets, and a die-cast vented aluminum basket. This is actual subwoofer construction in a smaller diameter, not a conventional 6.5-inch midbass driver.

The dual 4-ohm voice coils also work well as a pair. Depending on how the coils and two subs are wired, we can build around common final loads such as 1 ohm or 4 ohms. That gives us useful amplifier options, but the final impedance needs to be decided before the amplifier and enclosure are chosen.

Compact diameter does not mean zero enclosure planning. DB Drive publishes a 7.16-inch overall diameter, 6-inch cutout, 4.76-inch mounting depth, and 0.04 ft³ of displacement per woofer. Those numbers matter when the box is being designed because the net airspace needs to be calculated after driver displacement and the mounting surface still needs enough depth and clearance for the motor structure.

What they will not do: two 6.5-inch subs do not have the cone area of two 10s or 12s, so we would not sell these as a substitute for a large-cone bass system when maximum low-frequency output is the goal. They also need a proper subwoofer enclosure; they are not drop-in replacements for 6.5-inch door speakers just because the nominal diameter is the same.
