Need a serious 8-inch subwoofer, not just a small woofer because the enclosure space is tight? That is where the WDX8G2R.2 makes sense. DB Drive rates it at 750 watts nominal and 1500 watts dynamic, with a high-excursion motor using Y35 ferrite magnets, reinforced suspension, and a 2.5-inch high-temperature voice coil. This is built to take real amplifier power and work in a proper subwoofer enclosure.

The dual 2-ohm voice coils are the system-design part that matters. One sub can be wired to a 1-ohm or 4-ohm final load, so it gives us a clean way to match a monoblock that makes its rated power at 1 ohm without needing a second sub just to get the impedance where we want it. That makes this version different from a dual-4-ohm model even though the cone size is the same.

The die-cast aluminum vented basket, double-stitched foam surround, and dual poly-cotton dampeners are all there to keep the moving assembly controlled when excursion goes up. DB Drive also uses large-gauge compression terminals and a rubber gasket trim ring, so the mechanical side of the install is built around a rigid mount and a good enclosure seal.

It is still a physically substantial 8-inch subwoofer. DB Drive publishes an 8.78-inch outside diameter, 7.36-inch cutout, 5.55-inch mounting depth, and 0.08 ft³ of woofer displacement. Those numbers need to be accounted for when we calculate net enclosure volume and verify motor clearance behind the baffle.

What it will not do: this is not a shallow-mount 8-inch subwoofer. A single dual-2-ohm sub also cannot be wired to 2 ohms by itself; if the amplifier needs a 2-ohm load from one woofer, a different voice-coil configuration makes more sense.
