DB Drive WDX8G5R.4 8-Inch Dual 4-Ohm Subwoofer
Need more bass than a typical compact 8-inch sub can give you, but the build still needs to stay with an 8-inch driver? That is where the WDX8G5R.4 fits. DB Drive rates it at 900 watts nominal and 1800 watts dynamic, with a 2.5-inch four-layer high-temperature voice coil, die-cast vented aluminum basket, non-pressed paper cone, and reinforced suspension. This is an 8-inch sub built for a real amplifier and enclosure, not a lightweight factory-replacement woofer.
The dual 4-ohm voice coils give us useful wiring options. One sub can be wired to a 2-ohm or 8-ohm final load, so the amplifier needs to be chosen around that. With two of these, we have additional final-impedance options, but the wiring still needs to be planned before the enclosure and amplifier are locked in.
The important part is not assuming that an 8-inch cone automatically means a shallow or tiny-box installation. DB Drive publishes an 8.78-inch overall diameter, 7.36-inch cutout, 6.41-inch mounting depth, and 0.10 ft³ of woofer displacement. That is deeper than the WDX8G2R platform, so this is the 8-inch route when output capability matters more than minimizing enclosure depth.
What it will not do: this is not a shallow-mount 8-inch subwoofer, and a single dual-4-ohm WDX8G5R.4 cannot be wired to a 1-ohm final load. If the system requires a shallow driver, an extremely compact enclosure, or a 1-ohm load from one subwoofer, we would choose a different model.
