iDatalink Maestro APX-FL-JL1 Jeep Wrangler JL / Gladiator JT Floating Radio Dash & Wiring Kit
A 10.1-inch floating radio can fit the opening and still make the Jeep feel worse if the install gives up the factory controls, camera, amplifier integration and vehicle information that were tied to the original screen.
APX-FL-JL1 is the Maestro APX installation system built around supported Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT applications using compatible Kenwood or JVC Direct Replacement 10.1-inch radios. The dash hardware and vehicle-specific wiring are designed as one package so the new screen does more than sit in the opening—it works with the Maestro integration behind it.
That matters on these Jeeps because the factory radio can be tied into steering-wheel controls, backup-camera operation, climate information, vehicle settings, factory-amplifier functions and other data. A generic floating-radio mount can solve the physical fit and still leave the important part of the job unfinished.
Why the APX Approach Is Different
This kit is part of a matched Direct Replacement system. The compatible radio, Maestro RR or RR2, APX-FL-JL1 wiring and ACC-HU-KEN1 adapter are chosen to work together. Where the vehicle and radio support it, that gives the new screen access to retained factory controls and vehicle information instead of treating the Jeep like an old-school radio swap.
In a real install, we verify the exact Jeep, factory screen and factory audio package first. Then the Maestro module is programmed for the vehicle and selected radio, APX-FL-JL1 handles the Jeep-side dash and wiring, and the required ACC-HU-KEN1 finishes the supported radio-side connection.
The Factory Audio Package Still Changes the Plan
A base-audio Jeep and a factory-amplified Jeep can use the same dash opening and still need different audio-system work behind the radio. APX-FL-JL1 does not make those systems identical. Factory-amplifier retention, amplifier replacement, speaker upgrades and any additional integration are planned around the actual vehicle configuration.
That is also why we would not use this kit just because a customer wants a floating screen. If the goal is a generic radio install, there are simpler dash-kit paths. APX-FL-JL1 makes sense when the build is centered around the supported 10.1-inch Direct Replacement platform and keeping the Jeep integration intact is part of the job.
What the Complete Install Requires
APX-FL-JL1 is not a complete radio package by itself. A compatible Kenwood or JVC APX / Direct Replacement 10.1-inch receiver, Maestro RR or RR2 and ACC-HU-KEN1 are required separately. Depending on the selected receiver and layout, the proper radio extension cable and additional antenna, USB, camera or amplifier hardware can also be required.
iDatalink’s published APX-FL-JL1 installation guide lists Wrangler JL applications in the 2018–2023 range and Gladiator JT applications in the 2020–2023 range. Exact compatibility still depends on the trim, factory radio, audio equipment and selected receiver, so the whole vehicle/radio combination gets checked before the parts are ordered.
