MMATS Pro Audio DT10X 10-Inch Midbass/Midrange Speaker
Building a loud door, stunt wall or rear-panel setup and need a 10-inch driver that can carry real midbass into strong vocals instead of acting like a small subwoofer? That is where the DT10X fits. MMATS built the DT Series around fast midbass and midrange output, with the DT10X leaning a little more toward the vocal range while still giving you useful punch down low.
MMATS rates the DT10X from 60 Hz to 6 kHz at 300 watts RMS / 600 watts program. The 2.5-inch edge-wound aluminum voice coil, Kapton former, 70-ounce magnet and flat-spider suspension are there to keep the driver controlled when the system is being pushed. This is the kind of speaker we would use when the goal is strong door or panel output with vocals that stay present, then let the subwoofer system handle the actual low bass.
The DT Series also has a specific design history. MMATS says the soft parts were sourced from the original EV Prosound lineage that inspired the series, with the frame and motor structure changed for the MMATS version. MMATS recommends a 12 dB/octave low-pass setting in the 4–5 kHz range, which tells you how they expect this driver to be used: as the midbass/midrange section feeding a proper high-frequency driver above it.
What it will not do: this is not a subwoofer and it is not a full-range speaker by itself. It will not give you deep bass below the midbass range, and the top end should be handed off to a tweeter or compression driver rather than asking the DT10X to carry the entire system. A 10-inch pro-audio driver also needs the correct mounting depth, panel strength and airspace; it is not automatically a drop-in replacement for a factory door speaker.
