This is a system-control or DSP component. The correct choice depends on the signal path, channel count, routing, retained features and the rest of the amplifier and speaker plan.

Description

PAC AP4-FD11 AmpPRO 4 Ford Sony / Lincoln THX Amplifier Integration

On supported older Ford Sony and Lincoln THX amplified systems, the factory radio can stay exactly where it is. The upgrade starts by getting a clean signal before the new amplifiers have to work around the factory processing.

AP4-FD11 provides front, rear and non-fading/subwoofer preamp outputs for an aftermarket amplifier or DSP while retaining the supported factory controls and vehicle audio functions. That gives us a much better foundation for a full-system upgrade than grabbing speaker-level output after the OEM amplifier.

Factory volume, fade, balance, bass, mid and treble stay tied into the original radio in supported applications, along with SYNC, Bluetooth audio and warning chimes. The customer keeps the factory interface they already know while the aftermarket equipment takes over the part of the system we actually want to improve.

FD11 vs. FD21 vs. the Newer A2B Interfaces

FD11 belongs to the older supported Ford/Lincoln data-bus-controlled amplified architecture, including specified Ford Sony and Lincoln THX applications. FD21 covers another later Ford Sony/B&O branch, and the newer B&O A2B systems move to FD31 or FD32. Those are different signal architectures, not simple revisions of one product.

If the new amplifier is taking over factory speaker channels, PAC’s APH-FD01 can provide the speaker return path through the original vehicle wiring. If the downstream DSP or amplifier accepts optical, the optional APA-TOS1 can add a 48 kHz / 24-bit TOSLINK output to the analog-based FD11 path.

Full-System Signal Access

FD11 gives us front, rear and non-fading/subwoofer outputs, so this is the right kind of interface when the build is moving beyond a bass-only add-on. If the cabin speakers are staying on the factory system and the customer only needs subwoofer signal, the AmpPRO SUB family may be the more focused solution.
