Description
PAC AP4-TY12 AmpPRO 4 Toyota / Lexus JBL Amplifier Integration
TY12 solves the same basic problem as TY11—keep the factory radio, get a clean signal for the new system—but it belongs to a different Toyota/Lexus connector family.
AP4-TY12 provides front, rear and non-fading/subwoofer preamp outputs for an aftermarket DSP or amplifiers while retaining the supported factory controls and vehicle audio functions. The new system gets a flat, usable signal foundation instead of starting after the factory premium amplifier has already divided and processed the channels.
The Connector Is the Real TY11 vs. TY12 Decision
Some 2012–2015 Toyota applications can look identical in the dash and still use different radio connectors. PAC specifies TY12 when the supported vehicle has the 10/6-pin BHA1761-style connection. The overlapping 20-pin BHA8113-style version belongs to TY11 instead.
That is not a detail we guess from the trim. PAC’s own fitment guidance is to inspect the radio connection when the application overlaps. Confirming the plug before ordering is faster than finding out the wrong AmpPRO family is on the bench after the vehicle is apart.
Toyota and Lexus Have Different Premium-Audio Rules
Supported Toyota applications need the correct JBL/JBL Synthesis factory system. An amplified Toyota without that supported digital premium architecture is not automatically compatible just because an OEM amplifier is present.
Lexus compatibility is more restrictive. PAC excludes Mark Levinson from TY12, and its supported TY12 Lexus applications are listed without navigation. Those are real fitment boundaries, so the factory audio and navigation package have to be identified before the interface is chosen.
Where It Fits in the New System
The 5V RMS analog outputs can feed aftermarket amplifiers directly or go into a DSP for crossover, EQ, time alignment and routing. If the new amplifier is taking over factory speaker channels, the appropriate PAC APH harness varies by vehicle and can provide the clean return path into the original speaker wiring.
If the downstream DSP or amplifier accepts optical, the analog-based TY12 path can use the optional APA-TOS1 for a 48 kHz / 24-bit TOSLINK output.
