SPEAKER SYSTEM FIT
Where this fits in the build
Speaker choice should follow the listening goal and the location it has to work in. Factory replacement, sound quality, loud daily and high-output builds have different priorities.
Plan aroundConfirm mounting location, depth, cutout and usable bandwidth.
Match itMatch efficiency and power needs to the output target.
Finish itPlacement, sealing, crossover and tuning determine how the driver performs in the vehicle.
Description
RD65 — 6.5-Inch 2-Way Component Speaker System
RD65 is the simpler RD choice when the vehicle already gives you a 6.5-inch woofer location and a separate tweeter location. It uses a fiberglass-cone woofer, 1-inch silk soft-dome tweeter and passive 2-way crossovers, so the complete left/right front stage can run from one stereo amplifier pair without adding a dedicated midrange channel or fabrication location.
SMS would choose RD65 over RD365 when installation simplicity matters, when there is no sensible 3.5-inch dash or upper-door location, or when the system does not justify the extra channels and tuning complexity of a 3-way front stage. Recoil publishes 60W RMS / 150W peak per side, or 120W RMS / 300W peak for the pair.
