Build the Spacer Around the Actual Driver — Not Just the Nominal Size
SMS Precision spacer rings are built to order when you need more mounting depth, better basket or magnet clearance, or a cleaner way to move the speaker or subwoofer forward. Two drivers sold as the same nominal size can still use different cutouts and outside-frame dimensions, so this builder uses the exact driver dimensions instead of assuming every “6.5-inch,” “8-inch,” or “12-inch” driver is the same.
Each spacer is printed in black ASA and built to the selected thickness, cutout and outside-frame measurements.
Before You Order
Work through the builder in order. You do not need to measure anything if the exact driver is already listed with verified dimensions.
- Nominal size: Choose 5.25, 6.5, 6×9, 8, 10, 12, or 12.5 inches.
- Driver type: Choose Speaker or Subwoofer so the correct spacer family and pricing are used.
- Thickness: Choose from 1/4 inch through 4 inches in 1/4-inch increments.
- Exact driver: Choose the brand and model when it is listed.
- Build to Size: If the exact model is not listed or its dimensions are incomplete, enter the manufacturer cutout (the mounting opening the speaker basket passes through) and outside frame (the widest overall basket/frame diameter across the mounting rim). Do not enter the magnet diameter unless the manufacturer explicitly identifies it as the overall frame diameter.
- Maximum finished outside diameter: 12.55 inches.
Verify the driver and measurements before checkout. The builder requires the final fitment confirmation before Add to Cart is unlocked.

Choose the Thickness Around the Clearance Problem
The right spacer is not automatically the thickest one that will fit. Use enough thickness to solve the actual interference or positioning problem — basket depth, magnet clearance, window-track clearance, door metal, mounting surface, trim, grille, or another known obstruction.
Every additional 1/4 inch also moves the driver farther forward. Rear clearance and front-side clearance need to be checked together so solving a window-track or magnet problem does not create a grille, trim-panel, or excursion problem.
Example: if another 1/2 inch is all that is needed to clear the window mechanism, a 2-inch spacer does not automatically improve the install. Choose the minimum practical thickness that gives the exact driver the clearance it needs while still allowing the vehicle or enclosure to go back together correctly.
12.55-Inch Maximum Finished Outside Diameter
This 3D-printed spacer has an absolute 12.55-inch maximum finished outside diameter. That limit applies to every nominal size and to Build-to-Size entries. The builder blocks selected or custom fitments that exceed the physical limit.
This matters especially on larger 10-, 12-, and 12.5-inch drivers. A nominal 12-inch subwoofer can have an outside frame larger than 12 inches, so the actual outside-frame measurement still has to fit inside the 12.55-inch finished-part limit.
Exact Driver or Build to Size
If the selected model is listed with verified dimensions, the cutout and outside-frame measurements are filled in for you. If the model is not listed or the dimensions are incomplete, choose Build to Size and enter the manufacturer dimensions.
Manufacturers can revise a basket or frame without changing the model name. If the driver’s current specification sheet or cutout template differs from the dimensions shown, use the manufacturer’s current dimensions.
Why We Use ASA
ASA provides the rigidity, heat resistance, UV resistance and weathering resistance we want in a functional automotive spacer. The material does not replace proper installation: the spacer still needs to be securely fastened, sealed to the mounting surface and checked for vehicle or enclosure clearance.
Check Both Sides Before You Order
Rear clearance: basket, magnet, terminals, wiring, window track, door structure and mounting depth.
Front clearance: grille, trim panel, upholstery, driver excursion and any factory surface that has to reinstall over the driver.
These rings are built around the driver dimensions. Final vehicle or enclosure clearance still has to be verified for the installation.
