SMS Precision Custom Speaker & Subwoofer Spacer Ring — Built to Fit

Need more mounting depth, better clearance, or a cleaner way to bring the speaker or subwoofer forward? SMS Precision spacer rings are built to order in black ASA and sold individually. We do not assume every driver with the same nominal size uses the same basket or cutout. The configurator matches the spacer to the exact speaker or subwoofer dimensions.

Configure the spacer in this order: nominal size, Speaker or Subwoofer, thickness, brand, and exact model. If the driver is not listed or its dimensions are incomplete, choose Build to Size and enter the manufacturer cutout and outside-frame measurements.

Choose the Nominal Size First

Available nominal sizes are 5.25, 6.5, 6×9, 8, 10, 12, and 12.5 inches. Nominal size gets you into the correct part of the builder; it does not define the final cutout or outside diameter by itself.

Two speakers both sold as “6.5-inch” can use different baskets, cutouts, and frame diameters. The exact model selection is what lets the spacer be built around the actual driver instead of a generic size assumption.

Speaker vs Subwoofer — Choose the Actual Driver Type

The builder separates Speaker and Subwoofer spacers because the subwoofer versions use additional material and print time. Do not select Speaker if the part is actually being built for a subwoofer. The correct driver type needs to be in the order so the fabrication and price match what is being made.

Subwoofer variants are priced according to the selected nominal size and thickness. The price updates with the selected size and thickness.

Choose the Thickness Around the Clearance Problem

Thickness is available from 1/4 inch through 4 inches in 1/4-inch increments. The right spacer is not automatically the thickest one that will fit.

Use enough thickness to solve the actual interference or positioning problem: basket depth, magnet clearance, window-track clearance, door metal, mounting surface, trim, grille, or another known obstruction. Every extra 1/4 inch also moves the driver farther forward, so front-side clearance has to be checked at the same time as rear clearance.

Example buying logic: if another 1/2 inch is all that is needed to clear the window mechanism, a 2-inch spacer does not automatically improve the install. It may create a new grille or panel-clearance problem. Choose the minimum practical thickness that gives the exact driver the clearance it needs while still allowing the vehicle or enclosure to go back together correctly.

12.55-Inch Maximum Finished Outside Diameter

This 3D-printed spacer has an absolute 12.55-inch maximum finished outside diameter. That limit applies to every nominal size and to Build-to-Size entries. The builder blocks selected or custom fitments that exceed the physical limit.

This matters especially on larger 10-, 12-, and 12.5-inch drivers: a nominal 12-inch subwoofer can have an outside frame larger than the nominal size. The outside-frame measurement still has to fit inside the 12.55-inch finished-part limit.

Built Around the Exact Driver

When the selected model is listed, its cutout and outside-frame measurements fill in automatically. If the model is not listed, or its dimensions are incomplete, use Build to Size and enter the manufacturer dimensions.

Manufacturers can revise a basket or frame without changing the model name. If the model’s cutout template or specification sheet differs from the dimensions shown, use the manufacturer dimensions.

Why We Use ASA

ASA gives us the rigidity, heat resistance, UV resistance, and weathering resistance we want in a functional automotive spacer. The material does not replace a proper install: the spacer still needs to be securely fastened, sealed to the mounting surface, and checked for vehicle clearance.

Check Both Sides of the Spacer Before You Order

Rear clearance matters: basket, magnet, terminals, wiring, window track, door structure, and mounting depth. Front clearance matters too: grille, trim panel, upholstery, excursion, and any factory surface that has to reinstall over the driver.

Sold individually. Confirm the quantity needed for the installation before ordering.
