Lit FX Support

Use this guide to connect Lit FX, correct the colors on your LED lights, and get more from your effects. These steps cover the current Lit FX Android app and compatible SP110E, SP601E, and SP630E Bluetooth controllers. The controls you see depend on your controller and its firmware.

1. Connect Your Controller

  1. Power on your LED controller. Confirm the lights and controller have power.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth on your Android phone. Allow the app's Nearby devices / Bluetooth permission when asked. On Android 11 or older, the phone may also require location permission for Bluetooth scanning; Lit FX does not use it to track your location.
  3. Open Lit FX and tap Find Controllers.
  4. Select the controller you want to operate. If you have several, choose the correct controller or saved name.
  5. Wait until Lit FX finishes connecting and reading the controller's settings. Some buttons remain unavailable until that confirmation is complete.
  6. Try ON/OFF and a solid color first, before making hardware-setting changes.

Tip: Connect inside Lit FX. If a different lighting app or phone is controlling the same device, disconnect it and scan again. When changing LED hardware settings, work with one controller at a time, not a controller group.

2. Color Correction: When Red, Green, or Blue Is Wrong

If tapping RED makes the ring glow green, or BLUE turns on the wrong color, the most likely issue is the controller's LED color order. The order tells the controller which color channel to send first. Different LED strips can use RGB, GRB, RBG, GBR, BRG, or BGR (only options supported by your controller will appear).

Do This Simple Three-Color Test

  1. Connect to the individual controller. On an SP601E, select the channel you are correcting.
  2. Choose SOLID COLOR or the controller's solid/static color controls. Avoid moving effects during this test.
  3. Tap RED. The physical LEDs should glow red. Repeat with GREEN and then BLUE.
  4. If the physical colors do not match, open the LED order setting for your controller using the directions below.
  5. Choose one different order, apply it, wait for the controller to confirm the setting, and repeat the red/green/blue test. Do not change several settings at once.

Common example: If RED comes out green, GREEN comes out red, and BLUE is correct, GRB is a useful order to test. It is not the correct setting for every LED strip. Keep the order that makes all three test colors correct.

Important: LED color order is different from LED type and LED count. Do not change the chip type to solve a simple red/green swap. If all three solid colors look correct but an effect is described incorrectly, do not change LED order; see Wrong Effect Names below.

3. SP110E: Correct LED Order, Type, and Count

  1. Connect to your SP110E and wait for its live settings to load.
  2. Scroll to and open LED SETUP.
  3. For a compatible standard Lit FX WS2811 installation, start with the WS2811 / RGB quick preset. Tap APPLY PRESET to program it, then test RED, GREEN, and BLUE. For a different strip, use the actual specifications for your LEDs rather than guessing.
  4. For individual corrections, choose the proper LED TYPE, LED COLOR ORDER, and NUMBER OF LEDS, then tap SAVE CUSTOM SETUP.
  5. Wait for the app to confirm the controller readback. Retest the solid colors before returning to effects.

LED count: Enter the actual number of controllable pixels, not the number of colors or effects. The SP110E setup accepts 1–1024 LEDs. If the count is too low, a moving effect may stop before the end of the strip; an incorrect count can also make patterns look uneven. Check the wiring and pixel specifications if unsure.

Fine-tune a shade: Once RED, GREEN, and BLUE are correct, choose a solid color, use the color wheel, or open FINE TUNE RGB to adjust its red, green, and blue levels. This is for changing a shade, not for fixing swapped color channels.

4. SP601E: Correct Channel 1 and Channel 2 Separately

The SP601E has two independent channels. Each may run different lights and use a different LED color order.

  1. Connect to the SP601E and choose Channel 1.
  2. Select SOLID COLOR and check RED, GREEN, and BLUE on the lights connected to that channel.
  3. Within that channel, open LED SETUP, select the correct LED ORDER, and tap APPLY LED ORDER.
  4. Wait for controller confirmation. Test the solid colors again.
  5. Switch to Channel 2 and repeat only if the second channel's colors are wrong.

You can then use the channel's SOLID COLOR, EFFECTS, or MUSIC mode where supported. Brightness, effects, speed, length, and direction operate on the selected channel. Make sure you are editing the intended channel before changing settings.

5. SP630E: Color Order and Initial Setup

A new or factory-reset SP630E may need its compatible addressable lighting setup before the color and effect controls become available. Lit FX's qualified starting configuration is WS2811 / SPI RGB; this is not a universal preset for every type of strip.

  1. Select one SP630E controller, not a group, and wait for the current settings to load.
  2. Open SP630 SETUP. The dialog shows the current setup or explains that the device has not been configured yet.
  3. Under LED COLOR ORDER, start with RGB for a compatible new WS2811/SPI RGB setup, or choose another supported order if the three-color test shows swapped channels.
  4. Tap APPLY SETUP and wait for the controller to confirm it. Do not close the app or switch controllers while setup is being applied.
  5. Switch to a solid color and check RED, GREEN, and BLUE again.

If Lit FX says the SP630E did not confirm its setup, check controller power, reconnect, wait for its settings to load, and apply again. Do not attempt hardware setup through a controller group.

Make Your Own SP630E Color Pattern

  1. Open and activate CUSTOM COLORS after the controller has completed setup.
  2. Choose 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 colors.
  3. Tap each active color swatch to choose its color.
  4. Pick an EFFECT to control how those colors move. Adjust SPEED, EFFECT LENGTH, and FORWARD / REVERSE where shown.
  5. Let the controller confirm your changes before switching modes.

Music effects: On supported SP630E hardware, activate MUSIC, choose BUILT-IN MIC, select a music effect, and adjust SENSITIVITY. Higher sensitivity reacts to quieter sound. The controller's built-in microphone must be able to hear the music; the phone does not need to record audio for this mode.

6. Using Colors, Effects, and Direction

  • SOLID COLOR: Keeps one selected color on. Use this mode to check whether the hardware color order is correct.
  • EFFECTS: Runs a numbered moving or changing light pattern. Select an effect and wait for controller confirmation.
  • SPEED: Changes how quickly the supported effect moves or changes.
  • EFFECT LENGTH: Changes the size or spacing of a pattern where the controller supports it.
  • FORWARD / REVERSE: Changes chase direction on supported effects. A reversed chase is not a color-order problem.
  • BRIGHTNESS: Adjusts the light output; very low brightness can make colors difficult to judge during the three-color test.
  • FAVORITES / SAVED CONTROLLERS: Use the controls shown in your app to return to commonly used effects or identify controllers more easily.

SP110E: An Effect's Name Does Not Match Its Colors

Some SP110E effect descriptions can vary from what you see on a particular controller. If the solid RED / GREEN / BLUE test is correct but a numbered effect's color description is wrong, you can rename the effect in Lit FX without changing the LED setup.

  1. On your SP110E, select the effect under EFFECTS and wait for its number to be confirmed.
  2. Tap NAME next to the effect controls.
  3. Enter a description that matches your actual lighting, then tap SAVE.
  4. To go back to the original catalog name, open NAME again and choose RESET NAME.

These custom names are saved on your phone for that particular controller and LED setup. Renaming changes the label only; it does not change the physical effect, the controller's effect number, or labels on another phone. This SP110E naming feature should not be assumed to work on SP601E or SP630E.

7. Troubleshooting

My Controller Does Not Appear

Confirm controller power, Bluetooth, and app permissions. Move the phone closer, close other lighting apps, disconnect any other phone using the controller, and tap Find Controllers again. On older Android versions, enable the location permission needed for Bluetooth discovery.

Connected, but Buttons Are Gray or Do Nothing

Wait for the controller's status readback to complete. Some controls are unavailable until the correct controller family or hardware setup is confirmed. Disconnect and reconnect if the status does not load.

Red, Green, and Blue Are Mixed Up

Correct LED COLOR ORDER for the appropriate controller or SP601E channel. Test one order at a time and confirm the result. If solid colors are right, leave the LED order alone.

Only Part of My Strip or Ring Lights Up

Check that the number of LEDs/pixels matches the actual connected strip, especially on SP110E. Also inspect wiring, controller output, power, and the LED type specified by the strip manufacturer. A color-order change alone will not correct a wrong pixel count or a power/wiring fault.

The Chase Moves the Wrong Way

Use FORWARD / REVERSE where available. This changes motion direction, not RGB order.

An Effect Says the Wrong Colors

Test solid RED, GREEN, and BLUE first. If they are correct, the issue may be the effect description rather than wiring. On SP110E, use NAME to save a locally corrected label.

Music Mode Does Not React

Confirm a supported music mode is active, select the controller's BUILT-IN MIC when available, raise sensitivity gradually, and make sure the controller can hear the audio. The microphone may be in the controller housing, not the LED ring.

My Setup Does Not Save or Confirm

Wait until the controller has connected fully, work on one controller at a time, verify stable power, and try applying again. If it still fails, stop changing options and contact SMS Car Audio with your controller model and the settings shown in the app.
