Some Toyotas need a source upgrade. Some need bass. Some need the factory signal corrected before better speakers can do their job. These are real SMS projects showing what changed and why.
SMS integrated with the factory audio system and routed the signal into a KICKER LX seven-channel amplifier. The door and dash speakers were upgraded, and a single subwoofer was added. The LX gave each speaker its own dedicated channel for crossover, level and controller adjustments while retaining factory functionality.
This 2021 Toyota 4Runner received a cargo-area subwoofer enclosure and amplifier installation, front and rear component speakers, rear AGM batteries, a Big 3 wiring upgrade and oxygen-free-copper wiring throughout the system.
A subwoofer amplifier was installed with a Sony XAV-AX8500 10.1-inch radio and Maestro, retaining the factory steering-wheel-control functions. Oxygen-free-copper wiring was used to power the system.
The Sony XAV-AX3200 added Apple CarPlay. An iDatalink Maestro integration harness retained the steering-wheel controls and backup camera.
Dual 12-inch KICKER L7R subwoofers were installed in a KICKER loaded enclosure in this 2013 Toyota Corolla.
