These speakers have to work where wind, road noise, mounting space and exposure change the job. Match the driver to the actual location, output target, amplifier power and environment instead of treating it like a normal door-speaker replacement.

Beyma CP22/MF 8-Ohm High-Efficiency Compression Tweeter
When the midrange section is already loud enough that a normal tweeter disappears at volume, the CP22/MF gives the system a true 107 dB compression-tweeter top end without requiring a separate horn and driver assembly.
The CP22/MF is an 8-ohm, large-format Beyma compression tweeter sold individually. The current CP-22 manufacturer platform is rated at 25 watts AES, 50 watts program, 107 dB sensitivity and a 5 kHz–20 kHz operating range, with a 1.5-inch aluminum voice coil, aluminum diaphragm, ferrite motor and a published 40-degree conical dispersion pattern.
That makes it a very different tool from SQL60B or AST50B. Those compact tweeters solve tight packaging. The CP22/MF solves projection. We use it when the customer already has serious midrange output and the high-frequency section needs enough acoustic efficiency to keep up instead of being buried as the volume rises.
What problem does 107 dB sensitivity solve?
Several pro-style mids working together can produce more acoustic output than a conventional tweeter can match cleanly. Once that happens, adding treble EQ only pushes the weaker tweeter harder.
The CP22/MF starts at 107 dB sensitivity. That gives us enough high-frequency headroom to match a large midrange section without depending on huge amplifier voltage.
The advantage is not simply “more highs.” It is having enough output available that we can attenuate and tune the tweeter to the correct level while still keeping reserve capability when the whole system comes up.
The 40° conical pattern makes placement part of the installation.
Beyma publishes a 40-degree conical dispersion pattern for the CP-22 platform. That is relatively focused compared with a conventional wide-dispersion tweeter.
In an open-air motorcycle, Jeep, UTV or demo-style system, that controlled pattern can help keep high-frequency energy aimed toward the listening area instead of spreading it everywhere.
The tradeoff is that a 40-degree source is less forgiving of poor aiming. If the tweeter is pointed into a seat, leg, windshield edge or open space beside the vehicle, DSP cannot magically redirect the acoustic energy back to the listener.
We plan the tweeter angle before the panel is finished.
CP22/MF vs. AST22: same sensitivity, different package and impedance.
CP22/MF: 8 ohms, 107 dB sensitivity, 25 watts AES, 1.5-inch voice coil, 40° conical dispersion and a roughly 4-inch front format. Choose it when the system benefits from the 8-ohm load and CP-22 compression-tweeter architecture.
AST22: 4 ohms, 107 dB sensitivity, 25 watts AES, 1.5-inch voice coil and a similarly focused large-format role. Choose it when the amplifier and system architecture are built around a 4-ohm tweeter.
The headline output is similar. The electrical load, exact physical package and system layout decide which one belongs in the build.
CP22/MF vs. AST05: maximum projection vs. compact Competition packaging.
AST05: smaller neodymium Competition tweeter, 105 dB sensitivity and much easier packaging. It is the smarter answer when space matters and 105 dB is already enough.
CP22/MF: larger 8-ohm ferrite compression tweeter with 107 dB sensitivity and a defined 40° conical pattern. It makes sense when projection and controlled high-frequency coverage matter more than compact size.
We do not cut a larger tweeter into the panel just because it has two more decibels on paper. The larger format has to solve an actual output or coverage problem.
The 5 kHz lower limit is part of the design.
Beyma publishes the CP-22 from 5 kHz to 20 kHz and recommends a crossover at 5 kHz or higher with at least a 12 dB/octave slope.
That means the midrange below it has to stay clean high enough to meet the tweeter. If the mid falls apart well before 5 kHz, the answer is not forcing the CP22/MF lower. The answer is choosing a better driver combination.
A compression tweeter this efficient can still be damaged quickly by too much low-frequency energy. Proper high-pass protection matters more than chasing amplifier wattage.
Why the 8-ohm load can make sense in multi-tweeter systems.
An 8-ohm tweeter gives the system designer more wiring flexibility when more than one high-frequency driver is used on an amplifier channel.
For example, two 8-ohm CP22/MF tweeters wired in parallel create a 4-ohm nominal load. That can be useful in large speaker arrays where the customer needs more than one tweeter per side but does not want to drive the amplifier into an unnecessarily low impedance.
That does not mean we automatically double tweeter count. One correctly aimed CP22/MF may already have more output than the system needs. Driver count is chosen from coverage and acoustic target, not because the wiring makes it possible.
Where we would use the CP22/MF.
This is a natural fit for high-output motorcycle and powersports systems, Jeep and open-cabin speaker arrays, custom doors, rear panels and demo-style builds where several efficient mids need a high-frequency section with comparable acoustic headroom.
It is especially useful when the tweeter can be mounted where its 40-degree pattern actually covers the listener. A focused high-efficiency tweeter used in the right place can outperform a panel full of smaller tweeters that are fighting each other or firing in the wrong direction.
How we would tune it.
We start with the manufacturer’s 5 kHz-or-higher crossover requirement and at least the recommended filter slope. Then we set the CP22/MF level against the mids, verify the acoustic crossover, check polarity and arrival time, and only then correct the installed response with EQ.
Because 107 dB is extremely efficient, attenuation is often part of the correct tune. The goal is not to let the tweeter dominate the system. The goal is to have enough headroom that the top end stays clean and present when the rest of the build reaches full output.
The practical result: the CP22/MF gives a high-output Beyma system a focused 8-ohm compression-tweeter top end with enough efficiency to stay with serious mids without relying on brute-force amplifier power.
