Turn the Rear Hardtop into One Continuous Custom Lighting Feature

If the Jeep already has custom lighting, engraved panels or a theme carried through the interior, the rear hardtop gives you enough overhead area to make a major visual change with one piece. This Lit FX panel is built as a single rear assembly for compatible JL, JLU and Gladiator factory hardtops, with the engraved artwork centered in a 1/2-inch acrylic section and the lighting built into the finished panel.

The reason to choose this piece is simple: it gives the rear of the cabin one large, intentional focal point instead of leaving the roof disconnected from the rest of the build. You choose the artwork and Lighting Type, approve the digital render, and we fabricate the panel around that approved design.

How It Fits into a Full Lit FX Build

This rear panel makes the most sense when you want the overhead lighting to carry the same theme as the rest of the Jeep. It can stand on its own, or it can be paired with the matching front Freedom-Panel set so the lighting continues from the front roof section into the rear of the cabin.

Choose the Lighting Around the Build

• Color-Chase RGB — Addressable: Dynamic color effects with static-color capability. The matching addressable controller is included.
• Solid Red: Fixed red illumination with the matching single-color controller included.
• Solid Blue: Fixed blue illumination with the matching single-color controller included.
• Solid Green: Fixed green illumination with the matching single-color controller included.

The solid-color selections do not use an addressable chase controller; they include the appropriate single-color controller instead.

How It Is Built

The completed panel assembly measures 3/4 inch thick overall and uses a centered 1/2-inch acrylic section for the engraved illuminated artwork.

Plan the Installation Before Drilling

This is an overhead mechanical installation, so the mounting matters as much as the lighting. Installation requires drilling and correctly installing the supplied nutserts, bolts and mounting hardware. Every mounting point has to be secure before the Jeep is driven.

Plan the power, ground and controller location before fastening the panel permanently. Wiring needs to stay protected from sharp edges and roof hardware, and the acrylic should be tightened evenly without putting unnecessary stress into the panel.

Before You Order

Confirm the Jeep has a compatible factory hardtop. This is the one-piece rear roof panel for JL/JLU and Gladiator JT factory hardtops; soft tops and aftermarket replacement roof systems are not confirmed.

Choose the Lighting Type. Quantity 1 is one complete rear panel assembly with matching controller, extension wiring, nutserts, bolts and panel hardware included. A nutsert installation tool is required and is not included.

After Purchase — Send Us the Vision

You do not need finished artwork before checkout. After the order is placed, email al@smscaraudio.com with your order number plus the names, colors, theme, logos or approved graphics, reference photos, and anything else that helps us design the rear panel.

We take it from there. SMS Car Audio / Lit FX creates the digital layout, emails the render back to you, works through any needed changes, and begins fabrication only after you approve the final artwork.

Power & Wiring

The matching controller and appropriate extension wiring are included. The lighting still requires a properly fused 12-volt power connection and a secure ground. The vehicle power harness is sold separately. Route wiring so it is protected from sharp edges, roof hardware and any location where it could be pinched or damaged.

Installation Notes

Inspect the panel and fasteners after installation and periodically afterward. Do not use the panel if it shifts, rattles, sags or becomes loose, and do not overtighten hardware against the acrylic.
