Put the Jeep’s Artwork on a Full Custom Panel Inside the Tailgate

This Lit FX tailgate panel is for Wrangler builds where you want a large custom-lit piece in the rear cargo area that carries the same name, colors, club identity, audio theme or artwork as the rest of the Jeep. The standard panel measures approximately 25 inches wide × 11.5 inches high and mounts directly to compatible JK/JKU and JL/JLU tailgates.

You approve the artwork before production, choose the Lighting Type, and we build the panel around that approved design. Because it is mechanically mounted to a moving tailgate, the install has to account for both secure fastening and a wiring path that can handle repeated opening and closing.

Before You Order

Make sure this is the right panel for the Jeep and choose the lighting you want before checkout.

• Fitment: Jeep Wrangler JK/JKU and JL/JLU. Not for Gladiator JT.
• Lighting options: Color-Chase RGB — Addressable, Solid Red, Solid Blue, or Solid Green.
• Controller: The matching controller for the Lighting Type you select is included.
• Extension wiring: Included for the tailgate lighting package.
• Vehicle power harness: Sold separately.
• Mounting screws: Required, but not included.
• Artwork: You do not need finished artwork before checkout. A build name, colors, logo, theme, reference photos, or even a rough idea is enough to get started.

If you already know the look you want, choose the lighting and place the order. If the artwork is still only an idea in your head, that is fine too — we work the design out with you by email before production.

After Purchase — Send Us the Vision

After checkout, email al@smscaraudio.com with your order number. Use the same email address that is on the order when possible.

Tell us what you have in mind. Send the Jeep year/model, build name or club name, colors, theme, logos or artwork, reference photos, and photos of the Jeep if they help us match the rest of the build. If all you have is a rough idea, that’s fine too — send us what you have and tell us the direction you want to go.

We take it from there. SMS Car Audio / Lit FX will lay out the artwork and email you a digital rendering. We work through the design with you by email, make the needed adjustments, and get your final approval before anything goes into production.

Nothing is engraved or built until you approve the final artwork.

Why This Piece Makes Sense in a Full Build

The tailgate is visible whenever the rear of the Jeep is open, so it is a logical place to repeat the same artwork and lighting language used on the roof, doors, seats or audio fabrication. We would size and position the artwork around the full panel first, then plan the wiring so the tailgate can still operate normally.

Choose the Lighting Around the Build

• Color-Chase RGB — Addressable: Dynamic color effects with static-color capability. The matching addressable controller is included.
• Solid Red: Fixed red illumination with the matching single-color controller included.
• Solid Blue: Fixed blue illumination with the matching single-color controller included.
• Solid Green: Fixed green illumination with the matching single-color controller included.

The solid-color selections do not use an addressable chase controller; they include the appropriate single-color controller instead.

Mechanical Mounting Is Required

This is not an adhesive-mounted panel. It has to be mechanically secured directly to the Jeep tailgate with screws.

Before drilling, check behind every mounting point for factory wiring, latch parts, speakers, trim and anything else inside the tailgate. The finished panel needs to stay secure through normal opening, closing and driving.

Power & Wiring

The matching controller and appropriate extension wiring are included. The lighting still requires a properly fused 12-volt power connection and a secure ground. The vehicle power harness is sold separately.

Route the wiring so the tailgate can fully open, close and latch without stretching, pinching or pulling the harness.
