Beyma PRO8WFE 8-Inch High-Excursion Midbass
If the system has plenty of vocals but still does not hit in the chest, adding another midrange is not the answer.
The Beyma PRO8WFE is the 8-inch driver we use when the missing piece is real midbass. It is built around a 2.5-inch voice coil, 250 watts AES power handling and a substantial 6.5 mm Xmax so the speaker can move the air required for kick drum, upper bass and the lower part of the music that makes a high-output system feel complete.
This is not the efficiency-first PRO8MI and it is not trying to be a wideband vocal driver. The PRO8WFE is the physical-impact speaker in the lineup.
The 6.5 mm Xmax is the reason this speaker can do real midbass.
Midbass needs cone travel. A speaker can have a large diameter and a big power rating, but if the suspension only allows a small amount of controlled movement, it runs out of mechanical headroom quickly when the crossover comes down.
Beyma publishes 6.5 mm Xmax for the PRO8WFE.
That gives the 8-inch cone enough useful linear travel to move meaningful air through the upper-bass and midbass region instead of only getting louder through the vocals.
What that solves: the subwoofer can stay focused on deep bass while the PRO8WFE fills the punch region above it. Kick drums hit from the speaker system instead of sounding like deep bass from the rear with thin mids up front.
250 watts AES / 500 watts program gives the midbass section real thermal capacity.
Beyma rates the PRO8WFE at 250 watts AES / 500 watts program.
The driver uses a 2.5-inch voice coil, which gives it the thermal capacity needed for sustained midbass output when the system is playing hard.
That does not mean we blindly put 500 watts on it and call the job done. The rear chamber, high-pass, low-pass and amplifier gain still determine whether the driver is working inside its mechanical limits.
Power handling is useful because the speaker can take real amplifier power. System design is what turns that rating into reliable output.
94 dB sensitivity is the tradeoff for excursion.
The PRO8WFE is published at 94 dB sensitivity.
That is lower than Beyma's dedicated high-efficiency MI midranges, and that is exactly what we would expect from a driver designed to travel farther and work lower.
If the job is maximum vocal output per watt, the PRO8MI makes more sense. If the job is to create physical midbass impact, the extra excursion of the PRO8WFE matters more than chasing the highest sensitivity number.
Different problem, different driver.
The 80 Hz–4 kHz response tells you this is a low/mid specialist.
Exact-model technical data publishes the PRO8WFE from 80 Hz to 4 kHz.
That upper limit is another clue about the intended role. This speaker is not being sold as one cone that covers everything. It is meant to live in the low/mid part of a multi-way system.
In a three-way build, we can run a dedicated midrange above it and let the PRO8WFE concentrate on impact and lower-midrange body. In a simpler two-way architecture, the high-frequency driver needs to be chosen carefully around the crossover and output target.
The published 80 Hz floor is capability, not a universal high-pass setting. A small saddlebag chamber and a large custom door do not load the cone the same way.
The treated paper cone and cloth suspension are built around controlled movement.
Detailed PRO8WFE technical data lists a treated paper cone, treated cloth surround and treated cotton-fiber spider.
Those materials make sense for this job. Paper gives the cone good damping and relatively low mass, while the suspension has to support the larger travel required for midbass.
The driver also uses a die-cast aluminum basket to keep the motor and suspension geometry rigid while the cone is moving hard.
PRO8WFE, PRO8MI or PRO8Q300ND?
PRO8MI: the 98 dB dedicated midrange. Choose it when vocal projection and efficiency are the priority and another driver handles the midbass.
PRO8WFE: 250 watts AES, 94 dB, 80 Hz–4 kHz and 6.5 mm Xmax. Choose it when the 8-inch's main job is punch, upper bass and lower-midrange authority.
PRO8Q300ND: the premium neodymium broad-band midbass/midrange. Choose it when we want strong excursion and midbass plus more upper-range flexibility and lower motor weight.
The PRO8WFE is the straightforward ferrite midbass tool: less expensive than the premium neo option, more excursion-focused than the MI, and very clear about what job it is supposed to do.
Where we would use it.
This is a natural fit for motorcycle saddlebag systems, custom door panels, Jeep and powersports enclosures, demo-style speaker panels and any build where the system needs an 8-inch driver specifically to put weight behind the music.
It becomes especially valuable when a strong subwoofer system makes the front or side speakers sound thin by comparison. Adding PRO8WFE midbass lets us raise the impact and body of the speaker system instead of simply turning the subwoofer down.
With DSP, we can set the high-pass around the actual chamber, low-pass it into the dedicated midrange above it, then align level, phase and timing so the midbass sounds connected to both the subwoofer and the rest of the front stage.
The result: an 8-inch Beyma built to make the part of the music you feel in the door, bag or panel—not just another loud midrange competing for the same frequencies.

System Design Guidance
The published 80 Hz lower response is not a universal high-pass recommendation. Final enclosure loading, crossover points, amplifier power and DSP settings must be chosen around the actual installation and required output.
Where this fits in the build
These speakers have to work where wind, road noise, mounting space and exposure change the job. Match the driver to the actual location, output target, amplifier power and environment instead of treating it like a normal door-speaker replacement.
