Build the Ring Around the Speaker or Subwoofer That Is Actually Going in the Vehicle

A nominal size is only the starting point. Two 6.5-inch speakers can have different cutouts, outside frame dimensions, grille footprints, mounting hardware and basket clearance. The same problem gets even bigger once you move into subwoofers.

The Lit FX 3D LED Ring builder is set up so the actual driver determines the ring. Choose the ring size and driver type (Speaker or Subwoofer), then select the exact brand/model when available. If the driver is not listed, use Build to Size and provide the requested published dimensions. Build-to-Size uses the actual measurements because drivers with the same nominal size are not necessarily interchangeable.

Before You Order

Choose the nominal ring size, then tell the builder whether the ring is for a Speaker or Subwoofer. From there, select the exact brand and model when it is listed. If the driver is not listed—or the listed model still needs current geometry—use Build to Size and enter the manufacturer, exact model, cutout / inner opening, and outside frame measurement.

Verify the fitment before checkout. The exact model or measurements you confirm in the builder are what the ring is built around. Quantity 1 is one complete ring; order quantity 2 for a pair.

Outside frame / overall frame means the widest outside edge of the speaker basket or frame—not the magnet. If a grille, trim ring, terminal or basket flange is wider and affects clearance, include that widest required envelope. Use the manufacturer-published dimensions or physically measure the exact speaker; do not use nominal size or magnet diameter as the outside-frame measurement.

What One Quantity Includes

Each quantity is for one complete, built-to-order 3D LED ring. The LED strip is included and already installed in the ring.

Choose Color-Chase RGB — Addressable when you want animated effects, selectable colors or coordination with other addressable Lit FX pieces. Choose Solid Red, Solid Blue or Solid Green when the build needs one fixed color without an addressable chase controller.

Need two rings? Order quantity 2. Lighting four doors, a sound bar and a pair of subs? Order one ring for every driver you want illuminated.

Speaker vs. Subwoofer Is a Real Build Difference

The Subwoofer selection is not just a label. Subwoofer versions use the larger ring profile required for the application and take more build time and structure. For the same nominal size and lighting type, the Subwoofer build is $20 more than the Speaker build. Pick Speaker for normal speaker/midrange/midbass applications and Subwoofer when the driver is actually being treated as a subwoofer or specialty low-frequency driver.

Available Nominal Sizes

3.5, 4, 5.25, 6.5, 6×9, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 inches.

The exact driver model or Build-to-Size measurements still control final fit. A nominal 8-inch selection does not mean every 8-inch basket or grille will use the same ring geometry.

The 12.55-Inch Limit Matters

The finished outside diameter of the 3D ring cannot exceed 12.55 inches. That limit becomes especially important on large-frame 10- and 12-inch subwoofers.

If the actual driver or desired lighting geometry needs more than 12.55 inches outside diameter, use the Lit FX 3/4-Inch Acrylic LED Ring. The acrylic platform covers 6.5 through 24 inches and gives us more room around larger drivers.

After Checkout — We Build From the Fitment You Confirmed

This product does not use an artwork-proof process. The exact driver model—or the Build to Size measurements you entered—is saved with the order and becomes the fitment information for the ring.

The LED strip for the selected lighting type is installed in the ring. The controller, extensions, vehicle power wiring, speaker or subwoofer, and installation remain separate unless specifically stated otherwise. That keeps you from rebuying a controller when the ring is being added to an existing Lit FX system.

Color-Chase vs. Solid Color

Color-Chase RGB — Addressable uses the Lit FX 3-pin addressable signal path and requires a compatible controller. Plan controller location, extension length, signal routing and fused power before the ring is buried behind a panel or speaker.

Solid Red, Solid Blue and Solid Green do not require an addressable chase controller. They still need properly fused power and switching. If you want wireless brightness control or fixed-color effects, add a compatible single-color RF controller.

What to Check Before Final Installation

Set the completed ring against the actual speaker or subwoofer and the mounting surface before final assembly. Check the frame, grille, cone or surround movement, mounting hardware, terminals, enclosure sealing surface where applicable, panel depth and LED wire route.

The ring should add lighting without changing how the driver mounts, moves or seals. On a subwoofer enclosure, do not let the lighting ring create an air leak or interfere with the surround at full excursion.

What Else the Vehicle May Need

The LED strip is already installed in the ring. Color-Chase variants still need a compatible Lit FX addressable controller. Depending on the layout, the install may also need 3-pin LED extensions, splitters or signal support and a properly fused power connection.

Those parts stay separate because a customer adding one ring to an existing Lit FX system should not have to rebuy the same controller, while a new multi-ring system needs the complete signal and power path planned from the beginning.

These rings are for protected custom-audio installations. They are not waterproof. Keep them away from direct rain, standing water, pressure washing and constant moisture, and route the lighting wiring so it cannot be pinched, chafed or pulled when the speaker is serviced.
