Description
The ARC Audio AS600 is a matched pair of 6.5-inch midrange and midbass speakers for active two-way and three-way front-stage systems. Its 65 Hz–8.5 kHz published response allows it to operate as a dedicated midbass driver, the lower section of a three-way system, or the main woofer in an active two-way layout.
The rigid cast-aluminum basket supports a Y35 ferrite motor with an extended copper sleeve over the T-yoke to help control distortion and maintain linear response. A 1.5-inch CCAW voice coil is wound on a high-temperature Till former. The cone combines aramid fiber, coconut fiber, and extracted pulp, while a low-shore rubber surround and progressive Nomex spider manage the suspension.
The AS600 is rated for 100 watts RMS, 250 watts maximum, and 90 dB sensitivity. It is a raw driver intended for external DSP or crossover control and does not include passive crossovers or grilles.

How SMS Uses the AS600
The AS600 is the foundation of the SMS Level 2 ARC Audio active-system path. It can be paired with the AS100 as an active two-way front stage without requiring a dedicated midrange.
The AS250 is added when the vehicle has a useful dash, pillar, or upper-door location—or when the client wants fabrication that creates one. SMS does not add the extra driver unless its location and crossover strategy improve the system.
Common ARC Audio Pairings
- Active 2-way: AS600 + AS100.
- Active 3-way: AS600 + AS250 + AS100 when placement supports it.
- Processing and amplification: X2 800.8 DSP, Blackbird, Falcon, or stand-alone ARC DSP with separate amplification based on channel count and power requirements.
Installation and Tuning Matter
Rigid mounting, proper door sealing, panel control, safe crossover protection, and measured DSP tuning are required to get the intended midbass and midrange performance from the AS600. The speaker tier and amplifier family are separate decisions.
